{"id":445,"date":"2021-08-18T13:45:55","date_gmt":"2021-08-18T13:45:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.newcomponit.it\/atex\/"},"modified":"2025-06-24T16:37:45","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T15:37:45","slug":"atex","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newcomponit-blog.ippogrifomarketing.com\/en\/atex\/","title":{"rendered":"Are fabric expansion joints and thermal insulation jackets subject to Atex certification?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No, they are not and now I try to explain you why.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The legislative regulations concern all the equipment and protection systems intended to be used\u00a0 in potentially explosive atmospheres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fabric expansion joints<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rubber expansion joints<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Insulation covering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These products do not carry a flammable fluid and are part of a system which is already subject to <strong>ATEX certification.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The equipment defined by ATEX directive are: &#8220;machines, systems, fixed or mobile devices, components and control instruments, detection or prevention systems which are partially or entirely intended for the generation, transport, storage, measurement, control and energy conversion and\/or treatment of materials which may cause an explosion due to their potential ignition sources &#8220;. (Article 1, paragraph 3)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The equipment which are part of ATEX directive have an independent function and their own ignition source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Products that are in accordance with the definition of equipment but do not have their own ignition source are &#8220;outside the scope of ATEX directive&#8221;.
